ประวัติส่วนตัวของหนุ่มคนนี้

ก่อนที่จะรวมตัวเป็น Shinhwa นั้น Eric เคยโชว์ความสามารถในการร้องท่อนแร็พในเพลง 'I'm Your Girl' ของ S.E.S ในช่วงปี 1997 มาก่อนเริ่มงานในนามของวง shinhwa

 
บทบาทในฐานะหัวหน้าวงชินฮวา (The Leader of Shinhwa Role)
เอริคทำหน้าที่ในการเขียนเนื้อร้องและท่อนแร็พให้กับวงชินฮวาและผลงานเดี่ยวของสมาชิกในวงชินฮวาเช่นกัน และนอกจากนั้นเอริคยังร่วมร้อง (Featuring) ให้กับศิลปินคนอื่นๆ อีกมากมาย ทุกเพลงที่มีเอริคร่วม Featuring ด้วย จะได้รับความสนใจอย่างมาก

ในปี 2003 ชินฮวา ปฏิเสธที่จะทำการต่อสัญญากับค่ายเพลงยักษ์ใหญ่ SM Entertainment  ซึ่งเป็นข่าวที่ช็อกวงการอุตสากรรมเพลงในขณะนั้นมาก เอริคเป็นตัวแทนในการเจรจากับผู้บริหารของค่าย SM และได้ตัดสินใจนำเงินส่วนตัวเพื่อซื้อชื่อวงชินฮวา และให้ชินฮวายังคงสามารถใช้ชื่อและร้องเพลงของพวกเขาต่อไปได้ ซึ่งไม่มีใครรู้ว่าเขาต้องอดทนกับการเจรจาครั้งนั้นมากน้อยเพียงใด 

เอริคต้องยอมลดค่าตัวของตนเองลงเพื่อที่สมาชิกชินฮวาทุกคนจะได้ย้ายไปร่วมงานกับบริษัทใหม่  เอริคและสมาชิกชินฮวาร่วมฉลอง 10 ปีในคอนเสิร์ต 10th Anniversary เมื่อเดือนมีนาคม 2008  ก่อนที่ทุกคนจะแยกย้ายกันเข้ารับใช้ชาติเป็นเวลา 2 ปี

เอริคได้เปิดบริษัท Top Class Entertainment  ในปี 2007 เพื่อผลิตศิลปินออกสู่วงการเพลง มีซิลปินเบอร์แรก คือ นักร้องคู่ดูโอสาว “Honey Dew”  ซึ่งพวกเขาได้เปิดตัวซิงเกิ้ลแรก “Like A Fool” ไปเมื่อเดือนพฤษภาคม 2010  ที่ผ่านมา

งานเดี่ยวของเอริคส่วนใหญ่แล้วจะเน้นไปที่การแสดงเป็นหลัก นอกจากงานแสดงแล้ว เขายังมีงานถ่ายแบบและเป็นพรีเซนเตอร์ให้กับสินค้ามากมาย

Eric มีความสามารถพิเศษทางด้านดนตรีหลายอย่าง เช่น การเป่าแซ็กโซโฟน คาริเน็ต การร้องแร็พ รวมถึงการเลียนเสียงเครื่องดนตรีอย่าง บีท-บ็อค นอกจากความสามารถทางด้านดนตรีที่เหลือล้นแล้วนั้น Eric ก็มีแววจะเอาดีทางด้านการแสดงมาตั้งแต่ปี 2002 เมื่อวง Shinhwa มีโอกาสได้เป็นนักแสดงรับเชิญในภาพยนตร์เรื่อง Emergency Act 19 และดูเหมือนว่า Eric จะเริ่มให้ความสนใจงานด้านการแสดงมากขึ้น เมื่อเขาตกลงรับเล่นละครเรื่องแรกให้กับทางสถานีโทรทัศน์ MBC ในละครเรื่อง I Run เมื่อปลายปี 2003 และกลายเป็นจุดเปลี่ยนแปลงครั้งสำคัญที่ทำให้ Eric ได้รับงานแสดงบทนำในเวลาต่อมา
